Welcome to LightPainting.org

Light painting, or painting with light is the art of lighting a photograph with a hand-held light - usually a flashlight. If you've ever written your name in the air with a sparkler, you've got the general idea.

After many years of light painting on my own in dark, lonely studios I've decided to relaunch LightPainting.org as a community site. We have forums, galleries and articles to help you get started. Membeship is free and you can sign up here: Register.

First Post!

After many years of shooting light painted images and using this site as a mirror to McAleavy.org, I've decided to re-launch it as a light painting community. Registered members can post to the forum and have a personal image gallery for 16 light painted images. The full set of rules are here: The Rules - but in brief they are:

  • Please be polite and treat other members and their work with respect.
  • All posted images must be light painted - although we'll probably make an exception for good low-light long-exposure images.
  • You may post artistic nudes, but please, no porn.

You can register here: Registration.
